Interstate Scales Guarantee
When you weigh on our certified scale and are shown to be legal, then receive an overweight fine, we will pay the ticket if our scale is found to be inaccurate. If our scale is found to be correct, we will appear in court with the driver of the truck as an expert witness.
Q: How do I properly weigh my truck?
A: Please see the diagrams provided in WEIGHING PROCESS for detailed information. Remember to pull the vehicle onto platform 1 to begin the weighing process. Always remember, the only way the gross weight can be certified and guaranteed is to have the ENTIRE truck completely on the scale. It’s the law.
Q: How do I get a tare weight for my vehicle?
A: Weigh your tractor and trailer without a load. The gross weight on the weigh ticket is the tare weight of your vehicle?
Q: How can I determine the weight of my load?
A: Weigh your truck light and obtain a weigh ticket. Then weigh your truck loaded and obtain a weigh ticket. The difference between the gross weights on both tickets is the weight of your load.
Q: Can I use my Interstate Scales weigh ticket for customer billing?
A: Yes. Because the gross weight printed is a certified weight, a bill of lading can be issued based on the gross weight on the scale ticket, provided the entire truck is on the scale during the weighing process.
Q: Can I weigh on an Interstate Scales to obtain a weigh ticket for moving purposes?
A: Yes. If you are moving and want to be reimbursed for moving expenses, you need to weigh the moving vehicle while empty, prior to loading, and again, once it has been loaded. The difference in the gross weights of these two weight tickets will be the weight of the moving material.
Q: What information is required for moving expenses relating to a government move?
A: Generally, military personnel need to obtain a certified weight ticket to be reimbursed for moving expenses. Any Interstate Scales location can provide this service. For military moves, the government requires that the person’s social security number is on the weight ticket and that the weight ticket is fully completed, including a weighmaster signature.
Q: If I receive an overweight citation what should I do?
A: If required, post a bond and request a court date. Posting a bond will still allow you to contest the citation. Immediately notify Interstate Scales corporate office at 1-800-421-8212 of the citation and the location of the scale system you weighed on prior to the fine.
Send a copy of the weight ticket, citation, your name, company name, address, and telephone number to Interstate Scales upon notification. These instructions are listed on the back of each weight ticket.
